Player Bio
Jade Melbourne is back for her sixth season in the WNBL, all in the nation's capital. One of Australia's rising sports stars, Jade’s basketball journey began in Traralgon, where she quickly rose through the Australian basketball system, getting offered a scholarship at the Centre of Excellence and being selected to represent the country in junior FIBA tournaments, including the FIBA U17 and U19 World Cups.
Jade made her WNBL debut for the UC Capitals during the ‘Covid Hub’ season in Townsville 2020. In 2022, she was drafted 33rd overall by the Seattle Storm in the WNBA and made her WNBA debut in 2023. After a season with the Storm she was traded to the Washington Mystics and in 2025 finished with career bests in minutes (23.4), points (5.9), rebounds (1.9), and assists (2.9).
In the WNBL, Jade has established herself as one of the league's premier talents and most popular players. In 2024, she helped Australia to an Olympic Bronze as the Opals' starting point guard and along the way was named the Rising Star of the tournament. For this season, Jade wants to take her leadership skills on and off the court to the next level to lift the Caps to a return to finals for the first time since 2022.
Jade's pre-match pump up song is ‘Untouched’ by The Veronicas.
