The UC Capitals are ecstatic to announce the return of WNBL veteran Nicole Munger for her fifth season with the team.
Currently the longest-tenured player with the team, Munger has committed to a one-year deal and is looking forward to another year in Caps colours.
"I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to return to the Canberra Capitals for a fifth season. Canberra has become such a special place to me over the years, and I'm so thankful for the support of the club, the fans, and the wider community.”
Munger has been consistently available for the Caps – not missing a single game for the club in the past three seasons. Across 23 games in the 2025-26 WNBL season, she averaged 7.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 41.8% from the field.
As the team roster fills out for the season ahead, Head Coach Paul Goriss is looking forward to the consistency and reliability of Munger’s talent and impact.

“Munger is a tenacious defender and can be versatile with our switching defence because of her pursuit to be disruptive and out-work her opponent.”
“She’s a lethal shooter and can get hot very quickly, making the defence stretch and provide space for others. She has done an excellent job also getting to get mid-range jump shot and is a relentless offensive rebounder,” he says.
During the offseason, Munger has been a significant producer for her long-time NBL1 club, the Newcastle Falcons. The three-time-reigning NBL1 East MVP is averaging 19.5 points, 5.3 assists, 9.6 rebounds, and 2.1 steals per game.
The Falcons are positioned comfortably in finals contention under Munger’s helm, currently fifth on the ladder with 11 wins through 17 games.
The Capitals will undoubtedly be looking to capture a share of the success Munger brings to her NBL1 side and leverage it at the WNBL level as they look to compete in finals for the first time since the 2021-22 season.
Munger’s hardworking, team-first attitude has undoubtedly made her a favourite amongst the Canberra community over her past seasons with the Capitals.
“Munger exemplifies what it means to be a Cap. Hard-working, selfless, and a great teammate. Her professionalism and work ethic are contagious.”
“She sets the standard. All the things she does doesn't always show up on the stat sheet. She is a natural leader and a humble human,” Goriss beams.
UC Capitals Executive General Manager, Christy Collier-Hill, also acknowledges the value and impact of Munger off the court.
“Munger’s commitment to this Club is second-to-none, both on and off the court, so it was an absolute no-brainer that we wanted her back in the team for another year.”
“As a leader in the Club, she’ll provide valuable leadership to those new to the Caps program, as well as continuing her form on the court.”
Munger is looking forward to making an impact and getting back into the program as soon as WNBL27’s preseason starts.
“It's an honour to get to represent this team again, and I'm excited to get back to Canberra, meet the new group, reconnect with familiar faces, and get to work. I can't wait to see what we can achieve together this season!”
Perhaps most simply, Goriss captures the sentiment of not just the UC Capitals, but also the fanbase and broader Canberra basketball community:
“We are all thrilled to have Munger back for another season in Caps colours.”
Pending WNBL review and approval, Munger is the eighth player on the Caps 26/27 roster, joining Nyadiew Puoch, Isa Brancatisano, Sharne Robati, Amy Atwell, Isabel Palmer, Charlotte Whittaker, and Manuela Puoch.
