UC Capitals officially launch WNBL27

The UC Capitals officially launched the 2026/27 WNBL season alongside our sponsors, partners, players and staff at The Lager House by Capital Brewing Co., coming together to celebrate the season ahead and the community behind the club.

The WNBL27 Season Launch provided an opportunity to officially welcome the Capitals family into a new season, with the evening celebrating the people, organisations and basketball community who continue to support the club both on and off the court.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Capitals’ 2026/27 jerseys, with players joined by representatives from local basketball clubs to receive their playing uniform for the season ahead. The moment reflected the strong connection between the UC Capitals and Canberra’s broader basketball community, with pathways from grassroots basketball through to the WNBL continuing to play an important role in the club’s identity.

The evening also saw the official draw for the Capitals’ 2026/27 player sponsors, with local businesses and organisations once again stepping up to support individual players throughout WNBL27.

‍

Head Coach Paul Goriss shared his thoughts on the season ahead, giving guests an insight into the team’s preparation, the work that has gone into building the 2026/27 squad and what supporters can look forward to when the Capitals take to the court.

The Capitals were also joined by special guest speaker Professor Michelle Lincoln from the University of Canberra as the club prepares to embark on another WNBL campaign.

The night featured the unveiling of our leadership group, with Nicole Munger and Isa Brancatisano leading the playing group as captains.

‍

With WNBL27 now just around the corner, the Capitals are ready to carry the torch into another season — building on the club’s history while creating the next chapter together with our players, members, partners, sponsors and supporters.

The season tips off on Saturday, 17 October, when the Capitals take on the Bendigo Spirit at AIS Arena.

WNBL27 is here. Let’s carry the torch.
