The UC Capitals are proud to stand alongside Toora Women throughout the WNBL27 season, naming the Canberra organisation as the club’s Official Charity Partner. Together, the Caps and Toora will work to raise awareness of the challenges facing women and children in our community and amplify the important work Toora does to help women and children feel safe, supported and empowered.

For more than 40 years, Toora has supported, connected and advocated for Canberra women impacted by domestic violence, homelessness, corrections involvement, substance dependency and trauma, helping women create better life outcomes and driving positive change across the community.

The partnership will see the Capitals use their platform throughout the WNBL27 season to help amplify Toora’s work, raise awareness of the issues affecting women and children in the ACT and encourage the Canberra community to get behind an organisation making a meaningful difference every day.

UC Capitals Executive General Manager Christy Collier-Hill said the partnership reflects the club’s commitment to using its position in the community to support causes that matter.

“We’re incredibly proud to welcome Toora as our Charity Partner for the WNBL27 season. The work Toora does across Canberra has a profound impact on women, children and the wider community, and we’re excited to use the reach of the Capitals to help shine a light on that work.

“As a stand-alone women’s sporting organisation, we believe strongly in creating environments where women feel supported, respected and empowered. Toora’s vision aligns closely with those values, and we’re looking forward to working together throughout the season to help amplify their message and connect more people with the support and services they provide.”

For Toora, the partnership provides an opportunity to bring greater visibility to the organisation’s work and the experiences of women and children across the Canberra community.

Toora CEO Kellie Friend said the organisation was excited to partner with the Capitals and connect with their supporters throughout the season.

“We are incredibly proud to partner with the UC Capitals, an organisation that shares our belief in the power, resilience and potential of women, which we see every day in the women we support.

“Through this partnership, we are excited for the opportunity to amplify important conversations, strengthen community connections, and create opportunities that support women and children to rebuild their lives with dignity, safety, and hope,” she said.

Throughout the season, the Capitals and Toora will collaborate on initiatives designed to engage the Caps community and highlight the support available to women and children across Canberra.

The partnership will be particularly highlighted during the Capitals’ Community Round on Sunday, 15 November, when Canberra welcomes the reigning WNBL champions, the Townsville Fire, to AIS Arena.

Fans will have the opportunity to learn more about Toora, their services, and how they can support the organisation as the Capitals dedicate the season to creating greater awareness and connection around women and children’s safety, wellbeing and support.

The UC Capitals look forward to standing alongside Toora throughout WNBL27 and helping amplify their important work across the Canberra community.
