The University of Canberra Capitals are putting athlete performance and well-being at the forefront with a new elite High-Performance Team for the 25/26 WNBL season.
Led by Chief Medical Officer Dr Kylie Shaw and Head of High-Performance Will Maher, the group will look to deliver the most comprehensive high-performance program in the WNBL and set the benchmark for athlete care in the country.
The new program will provide the Capitals’ players and coaches access to a range of services including medical care, physiotherapy, massage, strength and conditioning, nutrition, wellness and sports psychology, podiatry, recovery, and pilates.
As part of this, the Capitals have partnered with Accelerate Physiotherapy, The Den Canberra - the team's official conditioning partner, Specialist Sports Medicine Centre, ACTAS, The Reset Strength & Sports Recovery Clinic, Sue Read Psychologist, Podiatry Professionals, Garran Medical Imaging, Gym Meals Direct, and Gaby Mora Nutrition & Dietetics to deliver a holistic program that supports the players’ on and off court needs.
“We want to ensure that our athletes get the support that matches their needs, which is why we’ve partnered with some of the industry’s best. This will allow us to deliver a program that will take care of our athletes holistically, and therefore allow them to be at their best – both on and off the court,” said UC Capitals Executive General Manager Christy Collier-Hill.

UC Capitals Head Coach Paul Goriss said that the new high-performance structure is a crucial part of the team’s overall program and will be critical to the team’s success this season.
“We are very fortunate to have these very dedicated and talented professionals in their field with the UC Capitals for this season,” he said.
“This is the best athlete care program I have seen in my many years with the Caps and I believe we are leading the way not only with the individual professionals we have, but also the facilities and access to services we have.
“We aim for the best player experience on and off court and I believe our players will reap the benefits of our high-performance team.
“It takes a village to build a program, and we are continually looking at ways to elevate the professional standards of the club and I believe we are building something special at the Caps on and off court.”
