Puoch, Munger and Clark honoured at UC Capitals club awards night

UC Capitals forward Nyadiew Puoch has been named theclub’s Most Valuable Player for the 25/26 WNBL season.

In her second season with the Capitals, the risingstar averaged 11.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.5 steals whileplaying all 23 games. She especially picked up her pace in the back half of theseason, averaging 15.3 points per game in the last 10 games as the Capitalsnavigated roster issues. It was a stretch that included the highlight of theseason, when she forced a steal and sank a halfcourt game-winner as timeexpired to beat the Perth Lynx on January 4.

Nards was also awarded the Caps Kelle Abrams DefensivePlayer of the Year honours, highlighting her spectacular two-way impact thisseason. Nards defensive versatility was on full display all season, as she wasused in various roles as an on-ball and weakside defender.

Second-year guard Jayda Clark was named this season’s Capital on the Rise. After missing all of 24/25 while recovering from ACL surgery, Clark was thrust into a bigger role this season and delivered a numberof standout performances, culminating in a career-high 16-point game in the season finale against Geelong. For the season, Clark averaged 5.9 points, 2.9rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game while providing quality minutes both as astarter and as a reserve.

Nicole Munger rounded out the award winners, claimingthe Player’s Player award for the third consecutive season. As she has donethroughout her Caps career, Munger brought heart, energy and hustle everyminute she stepped on court. Her signature moment of the season was agame-winning three-point basket with 2 seconds left against Geelong on December7.

The UC Capitals also recognised superfans the Milesfamily for its Sixth Player of the Year award. The longtime Caps supporterswere a constant sideline presence at Capitals home games (and occasionally onthe road too) with a variety of posters made specifically featuring everysingle Capitals player.
