The UC Capitals are pleased to announce the re-signing of Isa Brancatisano for the 2026/27 WNBL season, with the experienced guard returning to Canberra for a second year in Caps colours.
Brancatisano said her decision to return to Canberra was an easy one, driven by both the environment and the people within the program.
“I had a great time in Canberra - it’s a very welcoming place. I’m looking forward to seeing those familiar faces, being part of the program, playing with Nyadiew, and being coached by Goz again,” she said.
She also highlighted the connection with Head Coach Paul Goriss and the Capitals fan base.
“Goz coaches you hard, and I appreciate that, but he also can have a joke, so I love the balance that he brings.
“The Canberra fans are fantastic. They're so passionate, they're so loyal. Interacting with them and playing in front of them is so much fun,” she said.
Brancatisano proved to be a valuable contributor throughout WNBL26, earning a reputation for her toughness, defensive intensity and ability to stretch the floor with her three-point shooting.
UC Capitals Executive General Manager Christy Collier-Hill said Brancatisano’s re-signing was an important step in shaping the team’s identity.
“Isa brings incredible toughness, experience and leadership to our roster, and we’re thrilled she’s returning for a second season in Caps colours.
“With her on-court grit and competitiveness, she became a real fan favourite last season, and no doubt our fans will be just as excited she’ll be back on court for us next season,” Collier-Hill said.
Head Coach Paul Goriss echoed those sentiments, highlighting Brancatisano’s versatility and impact.
“Isa was a vital part of our team last season and brings agreat work ethic, maturity and leadership to our team. Along with her ability to defend up the floor and be a menace on defence she is a very reliable 3-point shooter.
“Isa also showed her ability to finish at the rim. While she played out of position at times due to injuries having some continuity in our team is important,” he said.
Prior to joining the Capitals, Brancatisano spent a season with the Sydney Flames, where she developed into a dependable perimeter player known for her defensive pressure and outside shooting.
During her first season as a Cap, Brancatisano thoroughly embraced the Canberra lifestyle by launching a coffee review series that quickly became a fan favourite. She says fans will have to stay tuned to see if the series continues for a second season, or if she explores other parts of what Canberra has to offer.
While in the WNBL offseason, she has recently tipped off her NBL1 South campaign with the Melbourne Tigers, returning to her home city and lining up alongside her sister Charlotte.
Brancatisano joins Nyadiew Puoch locked in for WNBL27, the UC Capitals continue to build a roster that blends experience, competitiveness and strong team culture ahead of the new season.
